The Society of Sports Therapists (The SST): Leading the Way in Sports Therapy Education and Injury Rehabilitation

The Society of Sports Therapists (The SST) is a professional body dedicated to advancing the field of sports therapy and injury rehabilitation. Founded in 1990, The SST was established to meet the increasing demand for qualified professionals who specialise in the prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries across all levels of sport and physical activity.

The SST plays a crucial role in setting educational standards for aspiring sports therapists. It currently accredits over 30 UK universities, offering 44 undergraduate and postgraduate sports therapy courses. These accredited programmes ensure that students gain essential skills in injury prevention, clinical assessment, treatment and referral, rehabilitation techniques, and professional development. Each course is carefully created to meet the Standards of Proficiency and Standards of Standards of Conduct Performance & Ethics set by The SST.

Graduates and members of the Society work in diverse environments, including professional sports teams, private therapy clinics, rehabilitation centres, and within the NHS. SST’s mission is to protect the public by promoting excellence in sports therapy education and ensuring that all practitioners deliver safe, effective, and evidence-based care.

Whether you're exploring a career in sports therapy or seeking trusted professionals for injury recovery, the SST stands as a benchmark for quality, integrity, and innovation in the industry.
